I have to say that it was not easy in the beginning....there were so many things to do in such little time as if I was the only person who could do them. There's always field trips, conferences, pta committee and most importantly follow up on school work and teachers. With our significant others there always places he/she wants to see, buy, invest, borrow and rent were you sometimes find out in the last minute because you were there to help make the decision. Besides the cooking favorite recipes, baking cupcakes and brownies for the neighbor kids visits unexpectedly you have to be on your toes Basically NO matter how many obstacles there are....sometimes it feels like your doing all by yourself.
Well the trick in calming all this down without eliminating everything is family meetings....yup that's what I said. Sounds a little off but once everyone is sitting down together there full focus is on you and them awaiting what they want to bring up. (Of course with a few snacks and drinks.) I'm sure there are some people who disagree with having the kids involved (but the idea is your kids are involved and communicating with you.) Our family meetings consist of updates with field trips and snacks and sleep overs and/or gatherings and praises of household acknowledgment (doing things around the house). Our last meeting consist without the kids with out significant others regarding meetings(school/teachers,pta and most important outdoors events.
It use to seem like much....and if you read the activites done then it looks like much to...but once everyone is on the same page with Where, When, What time, How Much and which adult is available then it's really easier.
